All About Charice

Way back May 10, 1993, Mr. and Mrs. Pempengco were very happy to have their first offspring delivered. They were blessed with a baby girl, and was baptized in the name of Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco(Charice real name). The real world of this young diva had started, her mom have witnessed the development of Charice´s talent in singing which is undeniably inherited from her. The fact that Charice´s mom is a talented singer. The distinction of being a diva was obvious, back to her early childhood.
Charice has practiced very hard to enhance her singing talent more exuberantly as she passes through her pace of life. As gifted with a powerful, soulful voice, dancing talent and overall stage present, Charice is well on her way of achieving her highest dreams. She had brought home the bacon, in most of her singing contest. The audience was wowed by her jaw-dropping rendition of the songs she sang. This proves her strong potential in singing. She continued joining different singing contest, and as usual the young diva bagged the title. Charice´s biggest challenge was when she entered showbiz industry, armed with her powerful voice. She joined Little Big Star Season 1, hosted by the pop princess Ms. Sarah Geronemo. Charice was not able to make it at first, she was kicked off. But she was picked up for the second time as wild card. She competed very well and gave her best performance on the show. Evidently, she always got the highest score from the judges. In the latter part of the contest, the text votes she garnered from the viewers were not enough to make her win. As a game, there´s a winner and a loser. She ends up third runner up on the grand finals. Her journey doesn´t end there; she had TV appearances on ABS-CBN and gigs around. She kept on pursuing her dreams; many projects were given to her. The luck comes along Charice´s way.
The FalseVoice channel of YouTube posted her LBS performance; "I Will Always Love You" of Whitney Houston´s hit on the digital world. Many viewers were attracted to the video. It was well delivered, and the viewers thought it was lip synching. No wonder Charice had the powerful, unbelievable vocals. Another face-off video between Charice and Bianca Ryan, America´s Got Talent winner, became popular. It brought her to the attention of Ten Songs Production, a recording company based in Sweden.

In June 2007, she flew to Stockholm and recorded seven songs. Three cover songs were mentioned; includes Whitney Houston´s "I Will Always Love You," Kate Bush´s "Running Up That Hill," and "Stay" of Shakespeare Sisters. The album also comprises originals songs, "Amazing," "All the Money in the World," "it Can Only Get Better," and "Born to Love You Forever." No further information about when it will be released. After few months, Charice´s own rendition of Dreamgirls anthem, "And I Am Telling You I´m Not Going" was released by the FalseVoice in the cyber world. A broadcasting System in Seoul, South Korea was impressed.
In October 2007, she was invited to perform on a talent show called Star King from one of the biggest television network on Korea. The audience was so much impressed by her jaw-dropping rendition of "And I Am Telling You I´m Not Going". Many viewers posted her Star King performance on YouTube, which leads her to American Television. Charice´s Star King performance was featured on E!´s The Daily Ten TV network. Star King performance with the headline "A Star Is Born", featured on November 14, 2007 brought her to be crowned as "Queen of the Week" on the Hollywood Royalty segment, at that time with the headline "A Queen Is Born" on November 16, 2007. The Ellen DeGeneres show then featured her Star King performace on its November 28, 2007 episode. Because of Charice´s magnificent way of singing, she made DeGeneres do a standing ovation. This young diva was personally invited by Ms. DeGeneres to perform on the show.
On December 19, 2007, Charice rendered "And I Am Telling You I´m Not Going" and "I Will Always Love You" on Ellen DeGeneres show. This young diva was warmly accepted, because of her talent. This made Charice the name of every Filipino household, and across the globe. The diva of different races. The proud of Filipino people. This young diva would continue to soar high, and proved that she has the power of a star. Truly a Star is Born!


 

KC Concepcion on Piolo Pascual

Ambassador for the World Food Program (WFP) KC Concepcion kept mum about her rumored sweetheart Piolo Pascual’s reaction to her meaningful yet risky mission to Uganda last week. She also refused to disclose whether they had the chance to meet after her trip. Clearly, the young actress is sticking to her resolution to keep a low profile when it comes to her relationship with the country’s ultimate heartthrob. “Siya na lang kaya tanungin ni’yo [kung paano niya ako winelcome pagbalik ko dito sa Manila]. Tignan natin kung anong sagot niya dun,” she said in an interview with ABS-CBN reporters yesterday, January 26.

According to KC, it doesn’t feel right for her to be in the hot seat most of the time. “Parang siguro bilang host din ako, and may talk show ako, nagkakataon na ako lagi yung tinatanong at ako lagi yung nakakasagot ng mga tanong dahil ako yung nakakausap at nakikita ninyo, habang siya nasa Subic nagte-taping sa Noah.” She further explained that it would be nice if people would know Piolo’s side of the story as well. “Maganda din siguro na a friendship or a relationship between two people is between two people, not just one. Maganda rin na ma-remind siya at ma-remind kayo na hindi lang ako ang nasa friendship na ’to.”

In the meantime, she clarified that it was her mom Sharon Cuneta with whom she was in constant communication during her stay in Uganda. “With my mom bilang mommy ko naman siya, dahil siya ang may karapatan malaman kung nasaan ako.”

As for her continuous efforts to help WFP’s fight against hunger in the Philippines, KC invited everyone to support her online charity auction, KC’s Closet, which has already raised over a hundred thousand pesos for the past two weeks. Piolo Pascual wants to be taken seriously as a singer

Piolo Pascual is set to serenade his fans this Valentine’s Day at his major concert entitled Piolo meets the Maestro Ryan Cayabyab on February 14 at the PICC Plenary Hall. The Ultimate Heartthrob will be performing some of the most loved ballads arranged by renowned composer/musician Ryan Cayabyab. Piolo said he is just thankful that in the years that he’s been doing concerts here and abroad and releasing studio albums, the support of his fans has remained unwavering. “I’ve just released my seventh album. Halos every year yata nagre-release ako ng album. Modesty aside, naging okay naman ‘yung response ng tao. Siguro I’ve been more exposed abroad. Average of four or five shows ang ginagawa ko abroad in a year. Ten years na akong nagto-tour abroad.”

Piolo started out in showbiz as an actor/model. It was only in the early 2000s after he became a mainstay on the musical variety show ASAP did he discover  that he could actually sing. Together with his then all male group The Hunks which included Diether Ocampo, Jericho Rosales, Carlos Agassi, and Bernard Palanca, he would do concerts around the country and other parts of the globe, which were all sold-out events. Piolo continued his venture into music by recording one album after another.

But does Piolo really want to be taken seriously as a singer, or is music just a pastime he enjoys doing on the side? He explained that given the massive support from fans for his albums and concerts over the past years, he will continue to take music very seriously. “I’m more known as an actor but with the chance that I’m given, to perform live in front of people, I don’t want to limit myself. If I can sing in ASAP and in shows abroad, I’ll do what I can do. I’ll do what I feel is best for me. I can’t say how I want to be viewed in terms of music. But I’ll keep doing this as long as there are producers out there who want me to do an album or a concert and of course people who want to listen and watch me.”

However, Maestro Ryan pointed out one obstacle that his hindering Piolo from proving to the public that he can really sing. Based on Ryan’s experience doing concerts with Piolo in the past, the audience, most especially the ladies, would rather swoon over the handsome man than listen to his voice. “Ang hirap kasi sa mga artistang katulad ni Piolo, paglabas pa lang sa stage, magtitilian na lahat ng tao. Wala ka nang maririnig sa kanta kasi puro tilian na lang hanggang matapos ‘yung show. All the ladies umaakyat na ng stage para magpa-picture. We’re talking about seven thousand people. Dati nga nakita ko ‘yung expression sa mukha ni Piolo, ‘Mr. C, itutuloy pa ba natin ito?’ So, I want to present him as a singer-performer. Gusto ko makita talaga ng mga tao ang talent niya sa performing.”

Derek Ramsay denies that he and Angelica Panganiban allegedly got married in Palawan

Derek Ramsay recently arrived from a weeklong vacation in England where he spent some time with his grandmother who also was celebrating her 90th birthday. The actor revealed that he has not seen his relatives for a couple of years. He shared that girlfriend Angelica Panganiban wanted to go with him, but had to to stay for the promotion of her upcoming comedy-horror flick, Bulong.

In an exclusive interview, Push.com.ph asked the actor about persistent rumors that he and Angelica had supposedly tied the knot when they went to Palawan for the New Year. “Every time we go for a holiday they always say that we’re getting married,” Derek replied. “Nung pumunta kaming Palawan I was with my family, we went there to spend New Year and walang marriage na naganap.” He admitted that he had heard about the blind item about them supposedly getting married. “Wala pa, like I said, when we’re going to get married we’re going to talk about it [when it happens],” he stressed.

Derek shared that he and Angelica have talked about marriage in passing, but they don’t dwell on the matter. He added that they have other priorities, like their respective careers, and that they are in no rush to get married. “What’s the rush? I think it’s (relationship) going so well,” he pointed out.

He said that Angelica is still enjoying her showbiz career and he believes that she still has a lot more to offer to the industry. “But gradually we would want it (marriage),” he assured.

Asked for his reaction about Angel’s recent statement that she would ask him to get married id she gets tired of waiting, Derek replied, “That’s why I love Angelica. You know how she’s really playful. She talks like that but like I said, ‘di naman siya nagpaparinig, ‘di naman siya nagyayaya. I think were very happy right now.” The actor went on to say that they are currently happy with their four-year relationship.

Sandara Park and the rest of 2NE1 thank their Philippine fans

After former Philippine teen idol and now member of famous Korean pop group 2NE1 Sandara Park’s vacation in the country, Universal Records released the group’s official first full length album last January 15. Since then, the album titled “To Anyone” and their repackaged first mini-album has dominated the Astroplus Top Selling Albums chart.

And to thank her Pinoy fans who have continually supported her and now her new endeavor, Sandara together with Park Bom, Minzi and CL, appear in a video on the Universal Records Youtube channel to show how much they appreciate the Filipinos who bought the album.

Sandara impresses as she thanks everyone in straight Filipino while the rest of the 2NE1 girls do her signature ‘Mahal Ko Kayo’ wave, a trademark of hers since her Star Circle Quest days.

2NE1 is set to make their Japanese debut in February.
